Position Overview

As the Controller, you will oversee the financial operations of the organization, focusing on cash flow management, cost control, and driving efficiencies across the operation. In this role, you will lead the operations financial team and collaborate with senior leadership. This is a hands-on role requiring technical expertise, process improvement capabilities, a strong understanding of business accounting principles, and the ability to collaborate with operations managers.

Job Duties

Lead, manage and develop the Financial Team :

Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team to ensure optimal performance and professional growth.

Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end and year-end close processes.

Ensure the team adheres to financial policies, controls, and reporting standards.

Collaborate with the operations team to provide accurate and timely financial data to support business decisions.

Collaborate with corporate-level finance and accounting support teams.

Drive process improvements and system enhancements.

Cash Flow Management :

Oversee the accounts receivable and work-in-process, ensuring efficient cash management and timely collections.

Forecast key financial metrics, including capital expenditures, accounts receivable balances, and DSO trends.

Manage working capital, including inventory and receivables, to optimize cash flow and minimize financial risk.

Cost Control and Efficiency :

Identify areas for cost savings and implement strategies to drive operational efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenditures.

Analyze financial data and develop insights to support management in making cost-effective decisions.

Collaborate with department heads to assess budget performance, identify cost overruns, and recommend corrective actions.

Monitor financial metrics and track performance to ensure cost control objectives are met.

Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) :

Lead the financial planning process, including annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting.

Provide in-depth financial analysis and performance reports to senior leadership, highlighting key variances, trends, and financial insights.

Analyze business performance and make recommendations based on financial data to support strategic decision-making.

Assist in long-term financial planning, evaluating business investments, and preparing financial models to support growth initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • CPA, CMA, or similar professional designation (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in cash flow management, cost control, and financial planning and analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS) and financial regulations.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle,, NetSuite, or similar) and advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.
  • Strategic thinking with a focus on driving business performance, profitability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Experience in managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Prior experience working in SAP.
  • Prior financial experience in the utility or construction industry.
  • Experience in developing financial models and supporting business case development.
