PURPOSE:
The Manicurist/Pedicurist will under the direction of the Salon and Spa Manager, maintain the quality and exceptional guest experience of the Salon. The Nail Technician provides nail care treatments to our customers based on their needs and preferences. The Nail Technician is an essential support to The Davis Community in creating unforgettable spa experiences for guests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Cleaning, cutting, shaping, polishing fingernails and toenails, painting designs, and applying gel and acrylic nails.
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with employees, coworkers, and guests.
- Communicate regularly with all staff on property regarding appointments and required timeframe for a smooth workflow.
- Courteously greet clients for all steps of their salon experience.
- Perform all services within a unisex salon operation as determined by license and certification.
- Upsell clients on services and products.
- Consult with the guest to analyze the treatment required to ensure expectations are met for a pleasurable visit.
- Prepare workspace and equipment, treatment areas, and supplies daily, sterilize all instruments in accordance to the NC State Board of Cosmetics Arts guidelines, and complete all tasks necessary for opening and closing shifts.
- On-time attendance is necessary, and uninterrupted work is required.
- Develop ongoing relationships with clients.
- Keep current and up-to-date knowledge of changing trends and developments in the department.
- Obey all federal, state, and local laws.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Friendly and warm demeanor, excellent verbal communication, and ability to multitask while maintaining poise.
- Competent with computer technology to easily learn reservation management system, the Point-of-Sale system to process payments, and Microsoft Office Suite for basic document manipulation and printing.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods and have full range of motion.
- Must be able to lift/push/reach for/carry 50 pounds frequently.
- Proven work experience as a Nail Technician, Manicurist or similar role.
- Expertise in basic and advanced nail techniques, including French manicures, airbrushing, and gel manicures.
- Knowledge of cosmetology trends.
- Understanding of sanitation and sterilization standards.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- High-level customer service and interpersonal skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licensure/ Certification: Professional license in Cosmetology or Nail Technician
Experience: Minimum of 1 year salon experience required; spa or hospitality experience a plus. Experience working with a Point-of-Sale system is preferred. Able to work weekends and holidays as needed.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
