Job Overview
The DeLong Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced Grain Elevator Operator to join our team in Garden Prairie, IL. As a key member of our operations staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient handling of grain and grain products.
This full-time position offers a competitive hourly rate of $22-$25 based on experience. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a strong understanding of safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Work safely within company policy, procedures, and governmental regulations
- Perform critical operations to keep facility running
- Assist all areas of unloading, loading, and transferring of grain and grain products by truck and rail operations
- Develop knowledge of product being dealt with and its hazardous properties
- Understand proper operation of conveyance equipment and associated safety systems
- Provide high level of customer service and interact with colleagues professionally
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of grain handling area and surrounding plant spaces
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous grain elevator experience required
- Previous welding or millwright experience required
- Excellent people skills and ability to collaborate with team
- Ability to multitask and work in fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work long hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This job operates in an outdoor environment, exposed to grain dust, weather elements, heavy truck and machinery activity, and working at heights up to 150'. Harnesses and other safety equipment are required in some situations. Must be willing/able to perform tasks while wearing these items. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
