The Denver Waldorf School is looking for a Grades Class Assistant for the 7th grade. The Denver Waldorf School is a friendly and lively urban K-12 school with 300 students located in Denver, Colorado with the splendor of the Rocky Mountains just a short trip away. Founded in 1974, we are a fully accredited full member school of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America, the Waldorf Early Childhood Association and the Association of Colorado Independent Schools.
Requirements:General Requirements:
- Work closely to support multiple class teachers and subject teachers in classroom management.
- Build relationships with students.
- Nurture and tend to the domestic and artistic life of the classrooms.
- Share in the care of the greater classroom environments.
- Support and provide an atmosphere of security, warmth, and joy.
- Provide recess duty, before care, and aftercare as needed and required.
- Attend weekly faculty meetings and in-services.
- Pursue professional development as indicated by the Professional Development Committee.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist with classroom cleaning and organizing.
- Assist students with classwork, overlook quality of work, and provide help and differentiation.
- Provide help where needed, supporting struggling students to stay on task and complete work.
- Attend special subject classes and assist teachers as needed.
- Conduct one-on-one or small group activities (i.e. math, movement, reading, social) under the direction of teachers.
- Help administer student medications following delegation.
- Work toward the ability to hold the classes independently during transitions and in substitution.
- Assist with grading, organizing, and other clerical needs.
- Assist students in attending intervention sessions (i.e. reading tutoring, math tutoring, care lessons).
- Attend class field trips and overnight trip.
