Description
The Denver Waldorf School (DWS) is seeking a qualified candidate to join our faculty as a full-time School Counselor. The School Counselor is needed to address the psychological and social well-being of students. This role helps students, school staff, and parents to identify social-emotional needs that hinder learning, and provides or obtains the services needed. Additionally, the School Counselor helps students, parents, and school staff to work together to solve problems by communicating and providing direct and indirect counseling services, as well as referrals to external resources as needed.

Essential Functions
The essential responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Assess students' crisis and mental health needs and modify interventions.
- Provide direct-indirect counseling services to students.
- Counsel students regarding educational issues such as school adjustment, truancy, study habits, and career planning.
- Analyze data to identify factors that negatively affect academic performance.
- Provide short term individual and group counseling to students to overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and use of strategies to address prevention, remediation, skill development, and crisis intervention for student success.
- Provide crisis intervention to students when difficult situations occur at school. Be available for student support when needed.
- Maximize and prioritize assistance based on individual student needs.
- Attend professional development opportunities to stay current on issues affecting young people.
- Develop and maintain the expertise to recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect.
- Advocate for training to enable students and staff to have the knowledge and skills needed to recognize the signs and to whom they should report suspected child abuse and neglect.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records and documentation.
- Perform other relevant auxiliary duties as required.
