What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Attendant/Study Proctor position at The Derryfield School?
The After School Attendant supervises students waiting to be picked up by parents or waiting to ride the evening buses. Students are restricted to a small area of the school and study and socialize until they are picked up. The Attendant provides supervision, ensures younger students are signed out appropriately, and generally monitors the activities of the students as they are waiting.
This role is under the supervision of the Division Heads, the after-school attendant’s responsibilities include the part time overall supervision of students from 2:00 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (these responsibilities include but are not limited to the following):
- The primary responsibility of the After School Attendant is to ensure the safety and supervision of students from 2:00pm to 6pm.
- Derryfield students on the whole are well behaved and respectful. They use the after school time for casual socializing and to complete homework as they wait to go home.
- The Attendant’s responsibility with upper school students is to be an adult presence that the students can go to for help and to provide simple supervision.
- The Attendant’s responsibility with middle school students is to supervise and ensure that students are signed out by an adult (or older sibling) or are dismissed in time to meet the buses outside of the school.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to relate to students, parents and school system personnel.
- Ability to supervise students from grades 6-12.
- Ability to pass the CPR and First Aid course.
