Location -Remote
The Project Manager Universal Payments Framework (UPF) Implementation is responsible for leading and overseeing the deployment of UPF solutions within financial institutions, payment processors, or technology providers. This role requires strong project management skills, expertise in payment systems, and experience with UPF implementation methodologies. The Project Manager will collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and clients to ensure seamless integration, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning & Execution:
- Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets for UPF implementation.
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with business and IT teams.
- Ensure alignment with industry regulations, compliance standards, and business needs.
- Monitor and manage risks, dependencies, and constraints throughout the project lifecycle.
2. Stakeholder & Vendor Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams, vendors, and external partners.
- Work closely with technology teams, product managers, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth execution.
- Manage relationships with UPF solution providers (e.g., ACI Worldwide, IBM, or other fintech partners).
- Facilitate communication between technical and business teams to ensure clear expectations and deliverables.
3. Implementation & Integration:
- Oversee the design, development, and integration of UPF into existing payment systems.
- Coordinate system testing, UAT (User Acceptance Testing), and post-implementation support.
- Ensure seamless interoperability between UPF, core banking, and payment networks.
- Manage data migration, transaction processing, and reconciliation processes.
4. Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure that UPF implementation aligns with PCI-DSS, ISO 20022, SWIFT, SEPA, and other regulatory standards.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to cybersecurity, transaction processing, and regulatory changes.
- Conduct audits and reviews to ensure compliance with financial industry best practices.
5. Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:
- Establish KPIs to measure project success and optimize payment processing performance.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on project progress, risks, and key milestones.
- Recommend process improvements for future implementations and system enhancements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
1. Technical & Industry Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of Universal Payments Framework (UPF) and its role in payment processing.
- Experience with real-time payments, cross-border transactions, and clearing & settlement systems.
- Knowledge of financial messaging standards (ISO 20022, SWIFT, SEPA, FedNow, RTP, etc.).
- Familiarity with core banking systems, API-based payment integrations, and fintech solutions.
2. Project Management Expertise:
- 5 years of experience managing large-scale payment system implementations.
- Proficiency in Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid project management methodologies.
- Strong understanding of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and DevOps practices.
- Experience working with tools like JIRA, Microsoft Project, Confluence, or equivalent.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification is a plus.
3. Business & Regulatory Acumen:
- Strong knowledge of global payment regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to manage vendor contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), and risk assessments.
- Experience working with central banks, financial regulators, and payment networks.
4. Soft Skills & Leadership:
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate multiple workstreams.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced financial environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ACI Worldwide's UPF platform or similar payment frameworks.
- Knowledge of cloud-based payment solutions and emerging fintech trends.
- Previous experience in banking, payment processing, or financial technology sectors.
