What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Media Manager position at The Dispatch?
About The Dispatch :
At a time of growing industry uncertainty and an alarming erosion of civic discourse, The Dispatch stands out as a platform for thoughtful coverage, respectful dialogue and a wildly engaged community of paying members. We bring a perspective -we're conservatives, classical liberals, libertarians-but we're fiercely independent, standing apart from media outlets increasingly engaged in partisan boosterism. Started in 2019 by Steve Hayes, the Editor-in-Chief of The Weekly Standard, and Jonah Goldberg, editor at National Review, The Dispatch has filled a valuable gap on the center-right in the media ecosystem as captured in articles in Vanity Fair, The Atlantic and other publications.
Overview :
We are looking for a creative, data-driven Social Media Manager to execute and refine our multi-platform strategy. This person will be responsible for expanding our reach, deepening engagement, and optimizing content performance to align with evolving platform trends and audience behaviors.
The ideal candidate has a strong editorial sense, experience with social media best practices, and a keen understanding of the digital media landscape-particularly within the news and political journalism space.
Responsibilities :
Content Strategy and Execution
- Develop and implement a consistent, high-impact posting schedule that optimizes reach and engagement across YouTube, X, Meta, and LinkedIn.
- Diversify post formats to include threads, polls, short videos, infographics, and interactive content to boost visibility and interaction.
- Create multimedia content, such as video clips from podcasts, editorial meetings, and breaking news coverage, optimized for each platform.
- Craft compelling, concise captions and calls-to-action that align with The Dispatch's editorial voice.
- Ensure content is tailored for platform-specific best practices (e.g., YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn long-form posts, Meta Stories, and X threads).
