What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant/Referral Coordinator position at The Doctors Office & Walk-In Clinic?
We are looking for an experienced, hardworking, flexible medical assistant with at least 1 year of experience to work in a physician-owned primary care/urgent care providing care to a diverse set of patients at a neighborhood primary care/walk-in clinic in the Clairemont Mesa area of San Diego. Enjoy a relaxed work setting and moderate work pace in a most convenient location.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate specialist referrals as necessary for patients - training provided
- Be willing or already trained in escorting patients to exam rooms, preparing the exam room, obtaining a chief complaint and vitals on patients
- Perform Insurance Verification and Eligibility Checks
- Enter Patient Demographics in the Electronic Medical Record
- Enter Clinical Data in online forms for Insurance Payers
- Ensure Patient Demographics are included in Lab Specimens
- Handle all administrative duties in a timely manner
- Communicate with insurance companies & handle insurance information for proper billing procedures
- Escort patients to exam rooms
- Be able or be willing to learn how to fill out lab requisitions

- Proven work experience as a medical receptionist or medical assistant
- Can-do attitude when empowering patients
- Caring/Flexible sentiment accommodating patient preferences when providing treatment options
- Easy-going nature in the office-setting

- Must be Punctual and Reliable
