The Doe Run Company is seeking a Mill Operator I to learn to safely and effectively assist in mill operations that produce all finished concentrates. This rotating shift position will be located at Buick Mill in Boss, MO.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- No experience required, some industrial experience preferred.
- Experience operating skid steer loaders, forklifts, and larger loaders preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to read a micrometer and a tape measure.
- Ability to safely drive a forklift or other mobile equipment and become certified (forklift).
- Environmental safety and health rules and regulations training (MSHA) training.
- Basic math skills.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily preventative maintenance tasks.
- Assist mill operators with mixing mill reagents.
- Maintain and clean work area. Complete all daily end-of-shift housekeeping tasks.
- Assist the mill operators II and III in the processing of all finished concentrate products.
- Operate wheel loaders to load ore into the process and load concentrate trucks.
- Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment, Physical & Lifting:
- Regularly works near moving, mechanical parts; occasionally works in confined spaces, is required to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to, a respirator, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, and eyewear, and works at heights of four feet or more with fall protection. Regularly exposed to vibration; frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions and extreme heat; occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and extreme cold. Works rotating shifts. Exposed to moderate noise levels.
- Regularly requires talking, hearing, standing, walking, reaching with hands/arms, and repetitive movement; frequently requires feeling attributes of objects, grasping, pushing, and driving; Occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing or balancing. Requires clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, the ability to judge distance and spatial relationships, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
- Regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally required to lift up to 100 pounds.
