Our client, a medical device manufacturer in the heart of the Twin Cities, is seeking an Automation Technician to join their second shift team. This position will work Monday through Thursday (4 days a week/10 hours per day) and will be responsible for the maintenance, support, development and implementation of automated works cells. The goal of this DIRECT HIRE position is to minimize machine down-time and optimize productivity with an ISO Class 7 certified cleanroom. The ideal candidate will have experience focusing on continuous improvement for current systems and methods to identify new technologies or automated processes.
This is a direct hire position. Since this role is fully on site, only candidates local to the Twin Cities, MN area will be considered.
Duties
- Respond promptly and efficiently to production downtime situations to maximize machine “up-time”
- Drive continuous improvement to enhance work cell productivity through use of identifying and developing new methods, subsystems, or new automation processes
- Pick and place devices, fiber optic sensors, and vibratory systems (tracks and bowls) with programming PLC knowledge
- Troubleshoot equipment to repair or replace defective circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, servomotors, or valves
- Understand and execute the Preventative Maintenance system
- Understand and utilize instructions, drawings, schematics, blueprints, specifications, and instruction manuals regarding use and maintaining proper function of manufacturing systems, equipment, and subcomponents
- Design and fabricate small fixtures for equipment
- Support process validation plans designed by engineers (IQ, PQ, OQ)
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on machines and tools as needed or required
- Adhere to all safety regulations
- Demonstrate support of company core values
- Other duties as assigned to meet business needs
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Some college education in manufacturing systems/technology or related; Associates degree or higher strongly preferred
- 2 years of experience in applicable maintenance or automation position
- Strong Electrical Pneumatic and Hydraulic knowledge
- Demonstrated use of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and I/Os (Allen Bradley is a plus)
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Prompt responder with a sense of urgency and high attention to detail
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts
- Familiarity with solid modeling CAD software (Pro-E or CREO preferred)
- Experience running a lathe and mill
- Cognix vision systems
- Ability to work fully on site for FOUR 10-hours shifts
Schedule
- 2nd shift 2:30pm to 12:30am Monday through Thursday
Benefits: Health care insurance benefits available first of the month following 60 days of employment. Thirty (30) hours worked per week must be averaged in order to maintain coverage. 401k enrollment is available per the Secure Act guidelines. Earned Sick and Safe time is accrued and can be used per the State of MN guidelines.
