Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Pathologist Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting pathologists by engaging in dramatic and play-based therapy. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as excellent patient assessment and care skills. The Pathologist Assistant will work closely with both patients and medical staff to ensure high-quality care and accurate diagnostic results.
Responsibilities
- Assist pathologists in the preparation and examination of tissue specimens for diagnosis.
- Conduct patient assessments and provide care as necessary during procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to patient samples and laboratory results.
- Utilize medical terminology effectively in communication with healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with other medical staff, including speech therapists and pediatric specialists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Stay updated on advancements in pathology techniques and practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to pathology.
- Familiarity with medical terminology used in pathology settings.
- Experience or education in patient assessment and care practices.
- Background or coursework related to speech therapy or early intervention is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- A degree from an accredited program related to pathology assistance or equivalent experience is preferred.
