What You’ll Do:

As a Transit Bus Technician, you’ll be at the forefront of maintaining and repairing our fleet of double-door, low-floor municipal transit buses. Your expertise will help us meet our commitments to our municipal contracts while delivering outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Major Diagnostics & Repairs: Work your magic on Cummins ISL diesel engines and Allison B400R transmissions, diagnosing and repairing issues to keep our buses in top shape.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance checks to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Use brand-specific software to diagnose problems and strategize repairs effectively.
  • Safety Inspections: Perform thorough safety inspections and prepare documentation to meet all Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Hands-On Repairs: Repair or replace defective parts, including emissions systems, injectors, and turbos.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with your colleagues to ensure a clean, organized shop and a collaborative work environment.

What You Bring:

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with heavy diesel repair, particularly with Gillig buses.
  • Skills: Exceptional mechanical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Licenses: A valid driver’s license is required; a Class B CDL is preferred.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with your team.
  • Tools: Your own mechanic’s toolset and the knowledge to use it effectively.
  • Strength: Ability to handle heavy equipment (up to 75 pounds) and work in various positions.

Physical Requirements:

This position involves both shop work and fieldwork, requiring physical stamina and the ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment. You’ll spend time in various environments, from the shop to outdoor locations, facing different weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
