Job Summary:
The Bar Manager oversees all aspects of the bar operation, ensuring a premium customer experience and maintaining an efficient, profitable, and well-stocked bar. This role requires both hands-on leadership and strategic planning to create a unique and inviting atmosphere that complements the overall dining experience. The Bar Manager will be responsible for supervising the bar staff, managing inventory, working with the Bar Operations team to help create drink menus, and ensuring compliance with alcohol regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Bar Operations & Customer Experience:
- Supervise and manage daily bar operations, ensuring a high standard of service and guest satisfaction.
- Develop and implement the bar’s operating procedures to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Maintain a well-organized, clean, and welcoming bar area for guests.
- Ensure all customers are served in a friendly, professional, and timely manner.
- Handle guest complaints or concerns in a tactful and professional manner, ensuring resolutions are reached promptly.
Staff Management & Training:
- Hire, train, and onboard bar staff, including bartenders, barbacks, and servers.
- Schedule shifts, manage staffing levels, and ensure proper coverage during peak hours.
- Conduct regular training sessions on drink recipes, service standards, and safety protocols.
- Promote teamwork and foster a positive work environment to ensure high morale and employee retention.
Inventory & Financial Management:
- Manage bar inventory, including ordering alcohol, mixers, garnishes, and glassware, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Track inventory usage and work to minimize waste, spoilage, and theft.
- Work closely with the general manager to manage the bar budget and ensure profitability.
- Monitor daily sales and track bar revenue, adjusting strategies as needed to meet financial goals.
- Maintain and enforce proper cash handling procedures for bartenders and other bar staff.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local and state alcohol laws, including responsible alcohol service, IDs, and consumption regulations.
- Monitor and enforce all health and safety standards to ensure the safety of employees and guests.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including regular inspections of the bar area.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and compliance regulations.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in hospitality management or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a bar or restaurant environment, with at least 1-2 years in a management position.
- Experience in fine dining or high-end establishments is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of cocktails, wines, spirits, and bartending techniques.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and handle challenging situations with grace.
- Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and bar inventory management software.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, profit and loss statements, and financial tracking.
- Excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
- Responsible Beverage Service Training (RBS) or TIPS certification preferred.
- Food safety certification (ServSafe) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the bar for long periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and handle heavy glassware and alcohol bottles.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, especially during peak hours.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced and dynamic, with high guest interaction.
- Requires working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Work is performed in a restaurant bar setting with exposure to noise, varying temperatures, and potential for spills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
