THE ROLE:
The TEC Program Coordinator for Internships and Career Exploration is responsible for facilitating and enhancing the career experiences of high school and college students through the development of appropriate field studies, internship opportunities and coordination of college fairs.
OUR ORGANIZATION:
The Education Cooperative (TEC) is an educational collaborative and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in E. Walpole, MA that develops and coordinates educational and organizational programs to meet the needs of our 17 member communities and their students in a way that complements and strengthens their school programs and expands opportunities for their students, educators and communities in the most cost effective manner. TEC’s programs include three DESE approved public special education day schools.
The Education Cooperative (TEC) Internship Certificate Program is a hands-on career exploration placement program supporting junior and senior high school students; and college students in the Boston Metrowest area. For over 15 years, we have developed outstanding relationships with local businesses, organizations, and public sector employers who serve as mentors for our internship students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
-Develops marketing strategies to secure candidates and mentors for internships.
-Reviews and updates appropriate field study and internship applications.
-Maintains an open and direct dialogue with students, their caregivers, and all sponsor contacts.
-Continues to research and investigate new businesses to obtain field study and internship placement sites.
-Creates a list to communicate via email with all students.
-Maintains database for all students and sponsors, as it applies to assignments.
-Advocates for the most meaningful and appropriate placement of assigned students.
-Utilizes database and custom designed computer program to facilitate the entire student experience.
-Schedules collaboration sessions with the Director of Professional Learning.
-Examines opportunities for expansion of the Career Exploration program.
-Coordinates and advertises college fairs.
-Coordinates job-alike sessions with TEC member district counselors.
-Communicates with colleagues regularly.
-Assists with acquisition of CORI checks for all mentors
-Develops and is accountable for the department budget.
-Expresses all concerns in a timely fashion to the TEC supervisor.
