Payroll Analyst
New York City, Lower East Side (Hybrid)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure accuracy of payroll records by maintaining payroll database with updated rate changes, tax withholdings, time off accruals and other items affecting payroll.
- Maintain and approve up to date staff allocations to uploading payroll to the general ledger per pay period.
- Assist budget analysts with maximizing budgeted payroll per contract
- Ensure accuracy of distribution of payroll costs across grant sources and cost centers within EA.
- Perform monthly analysis of payroll for management review per direction.
- Perform gross to gross payroll reconciliation.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual budget for each part of agency as it relates to salary including phasing,
- On a monthly basis, analyze payroll variations for unfilled positions, salary changes, position changes etc.
- Perform annual 941 reconciliations.
- Serve as backup to perform all activities necessary to process the payroll with payroll service.
- Seek new ways to enhance efficiency, identify areas for improvement and advise on the best course of action with program and support departments.
- Assist HR with tracking EA grants awarded related to salary.
- Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Interact with outside payroll service as neede
- Ensure adequate audit trail is maintained.
- Prepare material for the fiscal year-end audit as well as programmatic audits.
- Review payroll service generated W-2s
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in Accounting and minimum of three years nonprofit experience
- CPA a plus:
- Proven, leader with the ability to set team goals and prioritize daily operations and projects.
- High proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and Intacct (a plus).
- Ability to function independently, attend to detail, work under pressure, and complete tasks on time.
- Solid knowledge of US GAAP, Non-Profit and Grant Accounting Experience.
- Advanced data analysis skills and high proficiency with MS Excel.
- Detail oriented and extremely organized.
- Effective, persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
