The Elaine Clark Center seeks an Education Coordinator who will provide program leadership for the education programs provided at the Elaine Clark Center. For over 50 years the Elaine Clark Center has provided a unique educational program for children and young adults with special needs from 6 weeks to 25 years old. Our four distinct programs; Child Development, Heart of Hope Academy, ECC Life and Out of School Services, provide a continuum of care that complements other educational and therapeutic services offered in the community while focusing on individual goals of each student.
The Education Coordinator will work within all four programs at the Center assuring that educational goals and individual adaptations are met, meeting accreditation and licensing standards are met in each program. Emphasizing the continuum of care provided by the center to families in our community. The Center serves children with diverse needs including physical, behavioral and cognitive conditions. Many of our children have been asked to leave other programs and we serve children that cannot be served in a typical setting. Our goal is to create a classroom setting where students can connect and learn, which will help them to reach their full potential.
This position is ideal for an educator that has the desire to create programming while working with staff and children to implement student progress without the restrictions mandated by the traditional school setting. This will allow them to focus on the needs of each individualized child in order to stretch their cognitive potential while helping students facilitate social interactions within a group environment. Candidates must be willing to partner with parents and therapists in order to meet the individual goals set for each student.
The ideal candidate will be independent, able to create curriculum and individualized goal plans for students and staff at varying levels. Be flexible and open to understanding the reasons behind behaviors and seek to understand the student’s true cognitive capacity. Be organized in order to meet the needs of individual students and therapists while keeping track of progress and documenting outcomes. Be able to provide positive leadership within a group of diverse professionals.
Position Duties Include:
- Maintains program enrollment by working with students, parents and staff to assure proper placement of new students, goal plans for current students, as well as ensuring parents are receive appropriate information about their child and the program.
- Facilitates appropriate parent communications by reviewing regular teacher communications, scheduling parent teacher conferences, working with parents when a problem or concern arises, informing parents of any changes and completing an annual parent orientation and an open house event.
- Assures appropriate data is collected in order to document progress of each child through written progress reports, anecdotal data, goal tracking and parent teacher conferences.
- Works with program staff to create appropriate programming, class schedules and individual student schedules, assuring appropriate daily schedules that meet the individual needs of each child enrolled.
- Facilitates the group process of producing annual goal plans for each child enrolled in programs for over 4 consecutive weeks with the staff, parents and therapists.
- On an annual basis creates educational, curriculum, staffing and enrollment goals for the education programs at the Elaine Clark Center.
- Provides supervision and leadership to the Child Development program by monitoring any issues progress or accomplishments for each staff member.
- Assures program meets Accreditation requirements as well as regulatory requirements of the state.
Candidate Qualifications
Master Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy with relevant teaching and administrative experience.
