We focus on three areas of development: creativity, self-esteem, and civic pride. Programming blends hands-on activities with social emotional learning (SEL) and environmental education. Our vision is for every child to feel that they matter and can make a difference in the world around them.
TEF is looking for a passionate, creative, and innovative Enrichment Teacher for after-school, in school, and summer elementary youth programs. The Enrichment Teacher (ET) provides instruction to students on topics and skills related to social emotional learning, literacy, and art. The position reports to the Youth Program Lead and works with the Executive Director and teaching team.
Responsibilities
- Attend in-person day or after-school programming in Pawtucket, Central Falls, and Providence elementary schools
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
- Be kind and supportive of all levels of young learners
- Keep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant suggestions to instructional plans and activities
- Prepares teaching materials and classroom setting for enrichment activities or projects
- Responsible for daily classroom clean up and wiping down surfaces to uphold sanitation standards as required for safe school environment
- Performs various administrative duties such as taking attendance, organizing the classroom, maintaining accurate, complete, and correct student records in Microsoft Teams
- Attends in-person staff meetings, teacher training workshops and educational conferences to maintain and improve professional competence
- Assists other staff members in the orderly and safe transition of students from one location to another
- Effectively communicates with students, parents and other stakeholders via verbal and written communication
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- EDUCATION: High School Diploma with specialized teacher training, associatees or bachelor's degree preferred
- Previous Experience teaching or instructing pre-school or elementary aged children
- Talent for making the subject engaging
- Ability to explain and instruct students at a basic level
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Using YALE Ruler and CASEL Standards, be kind and supportive of all levels of young learners
- Knowledge of school safety and security procedures
- Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between in-person learning environments
- Self-motivated and responsible with good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
- Effective communication, both written and oral - Bilingual
- Knowledge of Microsoft Teams a plus
- Transportation to get from TEF Office to various schools and be able to transport supplies and be able to lift up to 40 pounds
