Summer STEAM Instructor - Minecraft
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Enrichment Center @ 2nd Nature Academy in Nashua, NH is seeking summer STEAM instructors to lead one or more of our 2025 Brainwave STEAM summer day camps. One of our most popular camps is our Minecraft STEAM Camp. We seek detail-oriented, organized, curious, self-starters who have a background in science, technology, engineering, art, or math to teach and inspire school-age kids in a fun, summer camp atmosphere. This candidate must be dependable and thrive in a flexible environment. Just as importantly, we are searching for people who can manage a classroom of children ranging in ages from 6 to 14 yrs, depending on the camp.
ABOUT THE CAMPS
Brainwave STEAM Summer Camp is estimated to start on June 25 and run through Aug 23. Each one-week long camp encourages campers to use or expand their skills through problem solving and creating original work. To learn more about the types of camps we offer, please visit www.enrich2day.com.
Our camps are limited to group sizes of 10-12, depending on the complexity of the camp. If there is an expansion of the number of groups, we will bring in counselors to support you in teaching, lunch, and break times. Summer camp runs 5 days per week for 9 wks from 8:30-3:30pm, which includes a 30-minute lunch, 30-min recess, and two 15 min breaks.
JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES
Class planning and preparation. Summer camps themes/concepts, overall course goals, general lesson plans will be provided, and the instructor will determine the details. Based on the hire, we also can reframe the camp to suit the strengths of the instructor.
Details include:
- Updating and detailing lesson plans
- Create materials lists and costing (templates provided)
Monitor and ensure the safety of students and materials
Good citizenship by respecting students and fellow colleagues, offering a helping hand when possible for you, and being trustworthy and honest. Being a team player, and ability to adapt to ever-changing circumstances.
Create a positive, achievement-oriented learning environment
- Active engagement with students, not only during the class, but also at pick-up/drop-off, lunch, and breaks.
Maintain classroom discipline
Logistical responsibilities. Set up class space, clean room after class, and store materials properly.
These activities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lego kits returned into appropriate boxes
- Computers must be dusted and cleaned
- For “maker-type” activities, sweeping of floors, proper disposal of materials scraps, returning equipment to proper storage
- Daily light cleaning and end-of-week deeper cleaning of classrooms and shared spaces (e.g., bathroom, hallways)
- Must ensure proper dismissal (e.g., sign-in / sign-out sheets) to designated adults with or without site coordinator present
Oversee lunch and outdoor break times
- Lunch and break times are opportunities for you to get to know your students, and for them to get to know one another
- Plan outdoor break time activities
Manage junior counselors, if present
Hours
- Pre-camp planning: 4 hrs paid planning time per camp 3 hrs on-campus training
- Week of camp:
- First day of camp: 7:30am-4:30pm, with 30 min unpaid break (extra time for set up in AM)
- Last day of camp: 8:00am - 5:30pm, with 30 min unpaid break (<1hr extra time for clean up)
- Regular hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm, with 30 min unpaid break (if taken)
PAY RATE IS BASED ON LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Experience teaching kids ages 6-14 preferred, including experience being summer camp counselor
Must be able to build and/or manipulate Minecraft worlds, and understand how to use it as a tool to build cooperative learning and fun experience for students.
Good communication skills, attention to detail, and a joyful approach to teaching
English language proficiency
Educational or professional background, or demonstrated passion in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math):
- Life science (e.g., immunology, molecular biology, marine biology)
- Social sciences (e.g., economics, sociology)
- Engineering (e.g., software, mechanical, electrical, biomedical)
- Arts and design (e.g., visual, digital, fashion design, architecture)
- Math (e.g., calculus, physics, statistics)
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Access to reliable transportation
Commit to the following camp preparation, DUE 4 weeks prior to camp date
- Pre-camp planning time and submit revised lesson plans and detailed materials list (templates provided)
- First aid /CPR training, if not already certified (we can also help provide this training)
- On-site ~3-hour counselor training to review rules, process, and campus tour (date is TBD but will be before June 26)
- During week of camp:
- Spend additional 30 min on first day of camp to set up for week
- Spend additional <1 hr on last day of camp to store and clean up

· Strange New Worlds: Minecraft Building & Adventure July 14-18
· The Sting: Minecraft Art Heist. Aug 4-8
· Minecraft Mayhem: Build Creative Defenses Aug 11-15
