What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper School Social Studies Teacher position at The Epiphany School of Global Studies?
The Epiphany School of Global Studies seeks an experienced Upper School Social Studies teacher for a full-time position, beginning in August 2025. Epiphany is a thriving K-12 independent school, in a historic setting, situated along the shores of Eastern North Carolina.
We are a college-preparatory community of faith and scholarship that is committed to creating globally aware students who are prepared to thrive in the world around them. Epiphany's Trent Road Campus is our lively center of discovery and learning for students in grades 6-12. Successful candidates will have a high level of comfort working in an independent school setting that allows for innovative teaching, curricular design input, and collaboration with a professional team of educators. The Upper School Social Studies teacher will instruct students in the methodologies of historical research, thought, and perspective.
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth working knowledge of the intricacies of both the United States and global history. Additionally, applicants should be able to teach an AP-level course. Applicants should possess strong communication skills, both written and oral, and engaging interpersonal skills. They will fully embrace the school's mission and engage their students using instructional methods that are innovative, appropriate, relevant, and reflective. Instruction must also integrate technology, elicit critical thinking, and challenge students to continue discovery beyond the classroom.
A successful candidate should also consider the possibility of taking on responsibilities such as a leadership role with a student club, becoming a student advisor, or even an athletic coach. Interested applicants should complete an online application, submit a resume or CV, and a cover letter explaining how he/she matches Epiphany's search criteria. At least three years of teaching experience is preferable, and a bachelor's degree is required.
