The Ethel Walker School has an opening for a full-time Assistant Director of College Counseling beginning in August 2025. Reporting to the Director of College Counseling, the Assistant Director of College Counseling is responsible for helping students identify and apply to colleges that are well suited to their interests and abilities.

The Ethel Walker School has an opening for a full-time Assistant Director of College Counseling beginning in August 2025. Reporting to the Director of College Counseling, the Assistant Director of College Counseling is responsible for helping students identify and apply to colleges that are well suited to their interests and abilities.
Responsibilities
- Counsels approximately half the class (average class size 50-60 students), beginning in their junior year.
- Writes compelling letters of recommendations for each student.
- Supports and informs parents through individual meetings and communication.
- Teaches the College Counseling Seminar course.
- Collaborates with the Director of College Counseling and takes on special projects, initiatives, and assignments as determined by the Director.
- Fosters and maintains relationships with college admission representatives by hosting visits to Walker’s, traveling to college campuses, and attending professional meetings and conferences.
- Serves as advisor to 6-8 students.
- Participates in residential life.
- Coaches or assists with two seasons of a co-curricular activity.
- Carries out other duties as assigned.
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree.
- Has compelling college guidance or college admissions experience, and experience mentoring and/or coaching.
- Is committed to fostering a learning environment engineered for girls.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (both written and oral).
- Possesses a strong work ethic and sense of humor.
- Has familiarity with the needs, objectives, and mission of an independent college preparatory school.
- Is committed to professional and personal growth.
