Reports To: Dean of Faculty and History Department Chair

The Ethel Walker School has an opening for a full-time History Teacher beginning in August 2025. The successful candidate will have the ability to center students in teaching the breadth of the Middle and Upper School History curriculum. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to fostering a growth mindset, and guiding students in becoming creative, patient, and collaborative problem solvers. Candidates must be comfortable or willing to learn how to integrate new technology and culturally sustaining and responsive pedagogy into the classroom. Candidates should lead in their classroom fostering inclusion and a culture of belonging. The ideal candidate will participate joyfully in all aspects of community life at a boarding school.

Responsibilities
- Teaches a full-time load of four classes.
- Serves as advisor to 6-8 students.
- Participates in residential life.
- Coaches or assists with two seasons of a co-curricular activity.
- Carries out other duties as assigned.
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree in history or a related field (an advanced degree is preferred).
- Has secondary school teaching experience and/or experience mentoring, coaching, or teaching adolescents.
- Is committed to fostering a learning environment engineered for girls.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (both written and oral).
- Possesses a strong work ethic and sense of humor.
- Has familiarity with the needs, objectives, and mission of an independent college preparatory school.
- Is committed to professional and personal growth.
