Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated individual who is passionate about working in the field of veterinary medicine to join our team. We have positions for those interested in learning on the job as well as for experienced Veterinary Assistants and CVTs.
In the role of Veterinary Assistant or CVT, you will provide essential support to veterinarians in delivering high-quality care to animals. You will work closely with a variety of animals, assisting in their treatment and ensuring their comfort during visits. You will also visit with clients regarding their pet's care. You will work as part of a team to provide stellar medical care to the patient and exceptional customer service to the client.
Duties
- Clean kennels and your work area, including scooping poop -- No veterinary clinic is without these messes...!
- Walk, feed, & occasionally bath animals
- Administer medications and fluids as directed
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by holding and restraining animals as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and cleaning exam & treatment rooms
- Prepare animals for surgery by administering pre-operative medications and monitoring vital signs
- Collect samples (blood, urine, fecal) for laboratory tests and assist with laboratory procedures
- Assist with radiographs and ultrasounds
- Assist with dentals: Cleaning and polishing teeth, and dental radiographs
- Insert IV catheters and administer injections
- Help maintain accurate and thorough medical records for patients
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventative health measures
- Provide back up front desk support, including scheduling appointments, greeting clients, checking patients in/out, and accepting client payment
Qualifications
- 18 years old
- High School Diploma or Equivalent if Home-Schooled
- Dependable with Reliable Transportation
- 2 years Job Experience (in any field) or College Education preferred, but not required
- Must be able to pass Drug Test and Background Check
- Must possess excellent basic Math (arithmetic) skills and Grammar/Spelling skills - Skills Tests may be given
