Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities using the Frog Street curriculum, including indoor, outdoor, and nature room activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment that promotes creativity and exploration.
- Ensure classroom safety and sanitation, including cleaning, disinfecting toys, and preparing formula if applicable.
- Teach basic skills (e.g., colors, shapes, numbers, letters, and social skills) and assess childrens development through observations and portfolios.
- Supervise children during meals, rest periods, and play, promoting a nurturing and respectful atmosphere.
- Foster trust and security in children through positive communication and support.
- Classroom Management
- Follow guidelines and curriculum standards established by The Family Place and the Child Development Center.
- Ensure compliance with licensing regulations and maintain accurate documentation for childrens activities.
- Collaborate with assistants and volunteers to provide effective care and learning experiences.
- Communicate professionally with parents about their childs progress, incidents, and daily interactions.
Professional Development
- Complete all required training, including:
- 24 hours of pre-service training (8 hours before working with children, 16 hours within 90 days).
- 30 hours of annual training for licensing and NECPA compliance.
- Additional leadership and safety training as directed.
- Maintain certifications in Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and transportation safety.
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS in a child-related field, or
- AA/AS in a child-related field 1 year of teaching experience, or
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credential 2 years of teaching experience.
- Knowledge of Frog Street Curriculum and Texas DFPS guidelines is preferred.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Texas Drivers License.
- Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (or obtained within 90 days).
- Clear TB skin test.
Working Environment:
- Ability to work in a busy, occasionally noisy environment with multiple activities occurring simultaneously.
- The Lead Teacher must supervise children at all times and may encounter odors related to toileting or illness.
- Work is primarily performed in a classroom setting.
- Participate in physical activities with children and maintain the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Maintain a professional and inclusive environment, fostering positive relationships with staff, children, and families.
