Are you ready to lead and make an impact? We're seeking a Director of Accounting to assist our Chief Financial Officer in managing day-to-day financial operations. This vital role ensures timely and accurate general ledger functions and delivers quality financial reporting to drive our mission forward. You'll also supervise a talented team of four professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises staff to establish goals and objectives for each year; monitors and advises on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
- Ensures accurate financial reporting for all entities as needed.
- Performs general ledger and month-end close functions as well as GAAP research, which includes developing, coordinating, and monitoring financial reporting for internal and external use.
- Effectively, leads, supervises, manages, and prepares evaluations and goals for the team members in support of the organization’s goals
- Coordinates balance sheet reconciliations; reviews reports and ensures timely corrections are made; ensures deadlines are met with data integrity and internal controls are followed.
- Coordinates internal and external audits and supports the filing of Form 990 tax reports.
- Prepares thorough and accurate analyses and presentations of financial results.
- Assists in preparing organizational budgets and assists in developing budget recommendations as needed.
- Creates accounting best practices to enable strong relationships and resolve issues; supports CFO with special projects and the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
- Special projects and workflow process improvements.
- Handles personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.; provides training to new and existing staff as needed.
- Works with stakeholders to facilitate financial understanding and fiscal responsibility.
- Attends training and other meetings as assigned.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Four-year degree in accounting required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience performing accounting work.
- At least 3 years of experience supervising accounting staff members, or equivalent experience.
- Master’s degree and/or CPA certification preferred.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- CPA preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles.
- Knowledge of auditing practices and principles.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations
- Ability to travel to attend meetings and conferences, when necessary.
- Ability to organize your own work, set priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels in the organization and the general public.
- Ability to manage and supervise staff.
- Skilled in advanced MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.
- Skilled in conceptual, analytical, and organizational skills.
Working Environment:
- Mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer.
- Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions.
- Vision to read printed materials and view a computer screen.
- Hearing and speech abilities for effective communication in person and over the phone.
- Primarily seated work with occasional periods of standing or walking.
- Minimal physical effort, including lifting and carrying objects weighing less than 25 lbs.
- Work is generally performed in an office environment but may extend to other similar settings.
