Event Captain
The Farm – a gathering place is an award-winning Event Center located in Candler, NC. We are a destination venue offering clients event spaces, on-site catering and bar service, plus lodging in cabins and cottages – all here on the property. While our primary business at The Farm is weddings, we are expanding our private and corporate events as well as launching some of our own programming. In 2022 we will host one hundred events: with our busiest months from April through December.
The Event Captain will be lead set-up and tear-down of our events. The ideal candidate will be energetic, have a positive can-do attitude, great mindfulness, and can give as well as follow direction.

- Approachable: Able to establish a warm rapport with staff, clients, and guests alike.
Our Event Captain does the following:
- Reviews Plans and Arrangements prior to event day to identify challenges, ensure clarity of written materials and arrives ready to direct the team.
- Leads Day-of Event Activities ensuring proper set-up and breakdown within defined timeline with support of day-of event staff.
- Maintains calm “We’ve Got This” attitude while managing competing priorities communicated through multiple streams of information.
- Supports Event Coordinator and team leaders with “what do you need” collaboration.
- Upholds Farm Image by monitory set-ups for accuracy, cleanliness, and viability,resolving concerns by rectifying deficiencies or escalating as appropriate.
- Thoughtfully monitors team performance liberally handing out praise, coaching in the moment and confidentially strategizing with management to address concerns.
- Participates in simple maintenance of event spaces, organizing décor, light cleaning projects, monitoring inventory etc.

- Comfortable with Microsoft office suite
- Efficient time management skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Physically fit with good stamina for physical tasks such as moving and lifting furniture and standing for extended periods of time.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
