POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the development and oversight of all resident services including but not limited to the activity program and other resident services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Assists in the planning, scheduling and conducting of activity programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual opportunities and challenges for the residents.
Assists in the planning, scheduling and conducting of outside activities; arranges for transportation and supervision.
Assists in preparing and organizing a calendar of events and programs. Posts and distributes the calendar electronically and printed as needed.
Distributes monthly calendar/newsletter to residents, family and staff.
Assists in preparing and distributing daily activity agenda and announcements.
Prepares and attends all community planned functions and coordinates event from beginning to end including setup, facilitating, and breaking down for the event as scheduled.
Assists in the planning of appropriate programs for holidays and special events. Coordinates holiday decorations for the community.
Meets with each resident upon move-in to introduce Activities/Wellness program and to learn of resident's own personal interests and likes/dislikes.
Encourages residents to attend the activities and builds enthusiasm for the programs.
Responds creatively to resident requests for programs and activities. Designs events to meet the interests of the residents.
Assist in coordinating the community library and organizes a volunteer staff. Participates and assists in marketing and staff functions.
Maintains up-to-date records of the type and frequency of activities and satisfaction and the number of residents participating in each.
Meets with new residents to introduce the resident programs.
Provides ongoing communication with residents and, as necessary, family members. Assists Director in leadership of wellness program.
Help organize and supervise a volunteer staff.
Help maintain and prepare reports on resident participation and satisfaction. Interacts with residents, guests and staff in an atmosphere of hospitality.
Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
Protects the privacy of the resident when communicating oral and written information. Other duties as assigned by Resident Programs Director

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE and Requirements
High School diploma required. Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Activity Coordinator license is required
1-2 years program or event management in preferred.
LANGUAGE ABILITY
The ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally speaking the primary language of the residents. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Must possess good communication skills and be able to speak English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
COGNITIVE DEMANDS
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft-Windows, including Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheet software, Publisher, email, and Internet. Also, the ability to use an I-Pad 2.
