Job Summary:
The Group Sales Manager’s role is to search out and secure new and repeat group sales business for Baptist Health Iceplex. This role places a heavy emphasis on constantly growing our customer base and driving new revenue sources, while also diversifying the client experience by introducing new and different activities and add-ons that encourage repeat business. The Group Sales Manager works closely and collaboratively with the Guest Experience Manager, the Baptist Health Iceplex management team, and the War Memorial Marketing Manager to create and execute programs that increase revenues, fill underutilized ice time, and expand community awareness of the Baptist Health IcePlex and its offerings.
Job Functions:
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Create, market and book private customizable on and off ice experiences for organized groups, maximizing the cross-utilization of various resources in our building including the ice, food service, party rooms and other off ice spaces, to name a few.
- Develop, book and execute vibrant group curling packages. Identify and train curling instructors to host groups for one-time curling events.
- Work with the War Memorial and Panthers IceDen management teams to identify potential tournaments, competitions and other multi-day events that complement our general mix of offerings, maximizing ice utilization and revenue while minimizing disruption to regular programming.
- Work closely with the Guest Experience Manager to ensure that the customer experience is seamless and consistently exceeds their expectations from the time of booking through execution of their event.
- Hire, train and oversee staff as directed to execute events within the Group Sales Manager’s perview.
- Develop and implement strategies to convert group event guests into participants in our other regular programming.
- Propose additional revenue generating opportunities, considering all available on and off ice resources.
- Create a system for regularly tracking program participation, with a goal to grow participation and revenues month over month and year over year.
- Create awareness of the Baptist Health IcePlex and its offerings in the local community, as well as more broadly in the North American hockey and figure skating communities.
- Conduct a regular audit of all website content and marketing materials related to areas of responsibility for accuracy and relevance, making recommendations to the War Memorial Marketing Manager for updates and improvements.
- Work with the War Memorial Marketing Manager and Guest Experience Manager to develop marketing materials for group event offerings.
- Act as the Manager on Duty on a regular basis according to a schedule developed by the Assistant General Manager from time to time.
- Assist in ensuring all policies and procedures are properly implemented and followed.
- Know emergency procedures for facility and guests.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
- Outstanding interactive skills that will support the organization’s efforts to develop an acclaimed and productive community ice rink facility and instructional/developmental program.
- Strong organizational skills.

- Strong team orientation, with ability to work well with youth and adults, including parents and coworkers.

- Prior experience in one or more of the following preferred:
- Sales
- Supervision
- Ice skating/ice sports
- 4-year college degree in business, communications, marketing or other related field
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a Full-Time position. Must be able to work a flexible, irregular schedule as required, including office hours, nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure proper management of events and activities scheduled in arena.
Work Environment:
This position works in a professional ice hockey practice facility, where the noise level is generally high, crowd traffic is heavy, and temperatures are often cold; lights are bright or dark with occasional exposure to flashing lights.
