Requirements
Job Summary:
The Custodian position is an important customer service position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of office areas, the warehouse and other work areas of the food bank for all staff and visitors. The Custodian maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for our food bank facility. The Custodian plays a crucial role in ensuring that our warehouse, offices, and public areas meet health and safety standards, supporting our mission to serve the community, while ensuring compliance with food safety standards and Feeding America requirements
Essential Duties include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for maintaining the Master Cleaning schedule for the facility.
- Responsible for day to day cleaning and upkeep of the building including offices, hallways, restrooms, corridors, stairways, meeting rooms, warehouse, and common areas.
- Clean and sanitize meeting rooms, lunch rooms, and other areas to meet our health and safety standards.
- Maintain restrooms, replenishing supplies and ensuring cleanliness.
- Monitor and dispose of trash throughout the building.
- Vacuums, mops, and sweeps all floor areas (includes the use of floor cleaning equipment).
- Note and report all areas needing repair and any hazardous conditions.
- Organize, prepare orders, and restock janitorial supplies.
- Use and store cleaning chemicals safely in compliance with Food Bank regulatory standards.
- Maintain records of all cleaning and maintenance logs that pertain to food safety standards and AIB (American Institute of Bakers) programs.
- Retain exterior through sweeping, dusting, and window washing.
- Provide additional cleaning support for special events and emergency clean-ups.
- Support a safe, welcoming environment for guests, volunteers, and staff.
- Follows all procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, including all safeguards and PPE requirements.

Qualifications
Required Education, Experience (and Other):
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, or one to three months of related experience and/or training.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Occasional nights and weekends may be required for this position.
- Must be able to have/provide transportation to the food bank for each shift.
- Negative pre-employment drug screen and successful background check.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands:

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must frequently stand for long periods while walking, standing, and kneeling.
- Able to lift 60 pounds. Repetitive squatting, bending, balancing, crouching, stooping, lifting, and twisting are required.
- Knowledge and prior application of safe work practices and an attitude of safety awareness.
Work Environment:
The employee regularly works in both an office and warehouse setting.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time position.
- The typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 6:00 am-2:30 pm.
- Days and hours may vary from the regular schedule when the program schedule adjusts, or other special events arise.
