Requirements
Job Purpose:
The Facilities, Safety and Compliance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, within our two facilities (Reno/Sparks and Elko), while supporting the operations team with Compliance and Safety implementation. This includes building and equipment maintenance, current and future equipment maintenance, assisting with the development and implementation of maintenance programs, and ensuring that all facilities systems are functioning optimally. In addition, this role will oversee our pest management program, building security, identify real and potential hazards, and supervise the custodial staff.
The Facilities, Safety and Compliance Supervisor will also be responsible for supporting the Operations team in the oversight of the five major consolidated standards of inspection for American Institute of Baking (AIB) and Feeding America food safety compliance. This role had direct oversite of custodial staff who are responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning, as well as documentation of cleaning and sanitation. This role is also the Co-Chair of our Safety Committee and a member of the Food Safety Committee.
Special Conditions or Certifications of Employment:

Required Education and Experience:
- 1-3 years of work experience repairing industrial equipment. (Applicable military experience will be considered.)
- 1-3 years’ hands-on experience operating and maintaining warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jack, HVAC, plumbing, electrical). This includes wiring, electrical, mechanical, electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing required.
- Bachelor’s Degree Required (High school diploma or technical certificate with 2-4 years’ combination of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
- Computer proficiency to perform needed tasks; Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills is required.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to respond to immediate facility maintenance needs and escalate larger issues to management.
- Ability to train and oversee custodial staff.
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team or with diverse groups.
- Ability to make operational decisions under minimal supervision; strong troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information, facilitate meetings, and work effectively with a range of stakeholders, diverse staff and management.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be at least 21 years of age.

Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Previous Property Supervision or Management (with tenants) experience preferred.
- Project Management experience.
- CPR certification or acquisition of one within six months of hire through Food Bank- paid training.
- Disaster planning and readiness experience preferred.
- Fire Safety experience preferred.
- Hoisters License or acquisition of one within six months of hire through Food Bank-paid training.
- Maintenance administration experience including planning, scheduling, negotiating, parts management, vendor management, maintenance management systems is preferred.
- 1-3 years’ experience in the food industry with responsibility for food safety and employee safety compliance (preferred).

Essential Functions, Include, But Are Not Limited to:
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of buildings, mechanicals, grounds, and equipment, including but not limited to furnishings, warehouse equipment, machinery, HVAC, refrigeration systems, plumbing, electrical systems, alternative energy systems, and vehicles.
- Coordinate and complete minor repairs as needed and escalate larger repairs to management for vendor coordination. Act as the point of contact for all vendors associated with building and maintenance, once approved by leadership.
- Perform prompt repairs that meet standard aesthetics and ensure that outside vendors complete work in accordance with organizational standards. Report vendor concerns to management for further action.
- Supervise custodial staff to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures. Monitor performance and compliance, provide feedback, and step in as backup when custodial staff are unavailable.
- Train custodial staff on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and equipment use to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Ensure that all health and safety protocols are followed in accordance with established guidelines. Report any safety concerns or violations to management for corrective action.
- Support the daily operations of the facilities by ensuring equipment and workspaces are in proper working order. Address immediate issues and escalate larger operational concerns to management.
- Conduct routine inspections of the building and equipment to identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions to management.
- Identify potential safety hazards and collaborate with the appropriate department to implement corrective actions. Escalate critical safety concerns to management for further review.
- Conduct regular workplace safety training for staff, including warehouse safety, fire safety, fire extinguisher use, CPR, and emergency response procedures. Coordinate with management for any additional training needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to AIB compliance, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) logs. Ensure records are up to date and accessible for audits.
- Assist with maintaining facility compliance with OSHA, AIB, USDA, Feeding America, local Board of Health, and other regulatory requirements. Report compliance concerns to management and support corrective actions.
- Respond to facility alarms, security concerns, or equipment failures as needed. Notify management of any incidents requiring immediate attention.
- Support the security of the facility by assisting with fire alarm system checks, sprinkler system maintenance, and managing access control measures such as key distribution and lock changes.
- Work closely with the Director of Operations to track facility expenses and assist in monitoring the facilities budget. Provide input on cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
Travel
Travel to our secondary branch in Elko is required. Frequency TBD.
Local travel to various events may be required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position.
- Normal days and hours of work are Monday through Friday – 7-3:30 or 8-4:30.
- Days and hours may vary from normal schedule when schedule adjusts or other special events arise.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Ability to work on various height related tasks, ranging from floor level to over 15 feet.
- Consistently- standing, sitting, walking, driving, twisting, bending, seeing, hearing, pushing, reaching, and pulling; Lifting and gripping of objects weighing from less than 20 lbs. up to 65 lbs.
- Evenings, overtime, and weekends if needed.
- Knowledge and prior application of safe work practices and an attitude of safety awareness.
- May be required to push/pull pallets up to 2,000 lbs. with use of electric pallet jack.
- Powered equipment (i.e. forklift, pallet jacks, snow blower etc.).
- Temperature zones in the warehouse, refrigerated units and outside grounds can range from -30 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee regularly works in a warehouse setting with equipment.
