Rebar Associate - The Fort Miller Co., Inc.
The Fort Miller Co., Inc. located in Greenwich, NY, has a full time, year round opening for a Rebar Associate. The ideal candidate has some construction experience, specifically in the areas of concrete and/or metal work. We are looking for someone who is energetic, safety conscious, reliable and self-motivated and who takes pride in the quality of their work. Responsibilities of a Rebar Associate:
- Safely cut steel bars to length specified on the daily production schedule.
- Using a rebar bender, safely perform moderately complex bends to dimensions specified on blueprints or shop drawings.
- Handle and deliver reinforcement bar to the production area as needed, providing quality support to the production process.
- Perform basic material handling, loading reinforcement bar onto trucks with an overhead crane, moving steel with a forklift, etc.
- Perform daily required maintenance on rod room equipment, such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling.
- General housekeeping such as sweeping, cleaning and putting away tools.
Qualifications of our Construction Laborer include the ability to:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Perform heavy physical labor.
- Safely lift, carry, push and pull up to 75 lbs on a regular basis.
- Understand common measurements of length.
- Access equipment at various levels by reaching or climbing a ladder, bend over, walk, kneel and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to operate a fork lift.
- Ability to use a rebar shear, bender, and overhead crane as well as common hand tools.
- Work independently as well as part of a team.
- Work a flexible schedule, including overtime and Saturdays on occasion.
