Dormitory Supervisor Position Summary:


The Dormitory Supervisor manages program participants in residence at the men's dormitories in Bessemer. This position requires that the Supervisor live in the men's dormitory on the Bessemer campus.


The Supervisor will take a scheduled break from the property for two (2) to three (3) days after a period of three (3) months.


The Dormitory Supervisor must hold to The Foundry's mission, vision, and core values. The Supervisor must be willing to sign The Foundry's Statement of Faith. The Supervisor reports directly to the Director of the Men's Program in Bessemer and is responsible for upholding the policies set forth by the Board of Directors. The Supervisor's responsibilities include but are not limited to the duties defined in this responsibility description.


Responsibility Description


Safety, Security, and Visitation:
  • Set and turn off facility alarm(s) as scheduled, including chapel services.
  • Serve as contact for after-hours calls, including communications with the alarm company, family members of program participants, and staff.
  • Coordinate with men's program staff to facilitate safety training, including severe weather, fire, hostile intruders, and the use of Narcan.
  • Report all onsite medical emergencies to the Program Director.
  • Monitor facility during visitation, ensure visitors have received visitation guidelines, distribute name tags, and maintain a sign-in log.
Transportation:
  • Monitor GPS and respond to alerts as needed.
  • Schedule and request transportation after hours and on weekends.
  • Secure vehicles, keys, and gas cards; maintain transportation logs as scheduled.
Daily Tasks:
  • Comply with and oversee dormitory guidelines.
  • Regularly meet with the Program Director to discuss the new program participant list, exits (voluntary or involuntary), bed assignments, and other issues as needed.
  • Conduct daily wake-up and morning chores for all program participants.
  • Ensure the dormitory is "tour ready" before the campus huddle.
  • Responsible for distributing medicine as scheduled and organizing the medication closet.
  • Check beds nightly and record program participant count.
  • Lead morning campus huddle and general assembly; confirm appointments, passes, and schedules with the Program Manager for roster.
  • Serve as liaison between program staff and program participants by communicating special announcements, program guideline updates, and upcoming events; post information on dormitory bulletin boards.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager on welcoming new program participants, including luggage/bag searches and escorting them to their assigned room.
  • Offer support to program staff in offering guidance to transients and other visitors seeking assistance.
  • Report all maintenance issues and supply requests to the Program Director or the Program Manager.
  • Collaborate with staff on the new program participant welcome process.
  • Coordinate mail distribution with program staff.
Dorm Leaders:
  • Assist the Program Director with selecting and training Dorm Leaders; introduce Dorm Leaders to program participants.
  • Schedule and monitor Dorm Leader chore lists.
  • Meet weekly with Dorm Leaders to communicate program updates and address concerns.
  • Collaborate with Dorm Leaders to monitor dormitory phone use for each floor.
Drug Screens:
  • Responsible for administering drug screens as scheduled on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Collect drug screen fees and documents monies owed as scheduled on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Education:
  • High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Certificate, or GED.
Experience:
  • Supervisory and management experience.
Requirements:
  • Valid state-issued driver's license, and must be approved by The Foundry's insurance carrier.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or MAC applications; ability to learn and use program management software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to resolve issues calmly and efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable presenting information in person or via various communication channels (telephone, email, social media).
  • Servant leader.
  • Quick learner and enjoys the challenge of taking on new assignments.
  • Willingness to be a team player.
