Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Automation Specialist to join our Develop Sciences team, focusing on laboratory-based automation in early-stage and small-scale manufacturing. This role plays a critical part in optimizing automation systems for laboratory environments and designing innovative automation solutions for new drug candidates in the pipeline.
The ideal candidate will possess a well-rounded background in automation, with experience spanning system design, programming, and troubleshooting. While prior experience in pharmaceutical automation is preferred, candidates from other industries such as automotive are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for laboratory automation and implement innovative solutions.
- Design and develop automation systems, including panel design, PLC programming, and HMI interface development.
- Code and troubleshoot PLC systems, ensuring logical and efficient wiring for new and existing systems.
- Utilize programming skills in Python, C, or similar languages for automation system integration and customization.
- Implement and manage SCADA systems, with a preference for Ignition SCADA software.
- Diagnose and resolve system power loss issues, including wiring and system troubleshooting.
- Provide technical support and training for laboratory automation systems.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in automation; pharmaceutical experience preferred, but experience in other industries (e.g., automotive) will be considered.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in panel design, PLC programming, HMI interface development, and system wiring.
- Programming expertise in Python, C, or similar languages (experience with Python in Ignition SCADA is a plus).
- Hands-on knowledge of wiring, troubleshooting, and system integration.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, with a preference for Ignition SCADA.
Education: High school diploma required; PhD candidates are welcome to apply.
