Currently seeking an SAP Security Architect for a global, premiere healthcare leader with a portfolio of life-changing technologies and products in diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals and branded generic medicines.
This is an onsite position in Waukegan, IL - NOT a Remote opportunity, No C2C or 1099 – W2 only.
The SAP Architect – Security will serve as the primary liaison between functional teams and process owners, ensuring that SAP security solutions align with business objectives and regulatory requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of global security requirements, including local privacy laws, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement secure, scalable solutions within SAP environments. The SAP Architect will be responsible for leading security initiatives, supporting SAP projects, and maintaining compliance with industry standards and corporate policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact between functional teams and process owners for SAP security-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with global security requirements, including data privacy laws and industry regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement SAP security solutions that align with business needs.
- Lead security teams in delivering global SAP security solutions, ensuring best practices and adherence to corporate security policies.
- Provide in-depth expertise in security authorizations and cross-functional impacts across SAP landscapes.
- Manage Segregation of Duties (SOD) risk assessments and ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.
- Maintain and update GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) rule sets, evaluating their impact on existing roles and user access.
- Assist in proof-of-concept initiatives with process teams, ensuring that security considerations are integrated into business requirements.
- Support SAP projects by defining security architecture strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Investigate new security technologies and provide recommendations for adoption or integration into existing SAP environments.
- Lead requirements-gathering workshops to define project scope, estimate efforts, and align security solutions with business objectives.
- Coordinate with external partners and suppliers to deliver SAP security solutions effectively.
- Conduct technical configuration, code reviews, solution testing, and user training to ensure robust security measures.
- Provide hypercare support post-implementation to ensure system stability and security compliance.
- Evaluate and recommend new software, tools, and utilities that enhance SAP security and performance.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A complementary business degree is a plus.
- 10-13 years of experience in SAP Security, preferably within the healthcare or medical device industry.
- Prior experience in management or leadership roles within SAP security projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including experience in root cause analysis and resolution.
- Expertise in SAP security authorizations, role design, and access management.
- Deep knowledge of GRC, SOD principles, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to business stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate and build relationships across business units and IT teams.
- Understanding of process costs and service requirements, with a focus on operational efficiency.
- Experience working with external service providers to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Ability to lead and mentor technical teams, driving security initiatives and continuous improvement.
- Strong understanding of SAP archiving tools and their impact on business processes.
Preferred Skills:
- SAP certification in security or GRC-related areas.
- Experience with cloud-based SAP security solutions.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and best practices.
- Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM) tools and strategies.
- Hands-on experience with SAP Fiori security and S/4HANA implementations.
