The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Since its creation as the Board of Health in 1805, DOHMH has set the national standard for public health. DOHMH has been a leader in utilizing community-level survey and epidemiologic data, cutting-edge information technology, and evidence-based and evidence-informed practices to prioritize and address the health issues of ultimate importance to NYC’s 8.4 million residents. DOHMH balances its role of protecting and promoting the health of all New Yorkers with the rights of those individuals to determine their own health-related behaviors. It achieves this balance by investing in public health interventions that work with communities to change the environmental context, making healthy options the default choice, regardless of education, income, and socioeconomic status. Within DOHMH, the Division of Family and Child Health (FCH) works to improve the health of children, women, and families in New York City, with an emphasis on reducing health disparities and advancing equity. The Division’s diverse and expansive portfolio of work ranges from providing home visits to new parents, to caring for acute and chronic conditions in school children, to engaging communities around promoting sexual and reproductive justice. Four bureaus comprise the Division: Bureau of Maternal, Infant, and Reproductive Health (BMIRH); Bureau of Early Intervention; Office of School Health; and Bureau of Administration.
New York City Teens Connection(NYCTC) is an adolescent sexual health program of BMIRH and an expansion of Bronx Teens Connection, scaling up this successful community-based model to reach more youth throughout NYC. By engaging youth, parenting adults, community-based organizations, schools, clinics, and citywide agencies in a comprehensive effort to improve adolescent sexual health, NYCTC will help youth in NYC learn about their sexual and reproductive health, access the information and resources they need to make healthy decisions, and feel empowered to act on these decisions. POSITION OVERVIEW
NYC Coffers an exciting, unique opportunity for a public health professional to work on an innovative project to engage with teachers and other school leaders, teens, parenting adults, community leaders, clinical services providers, and other stakeholders that work with teens. The Evaluation Coordinator will assist in developing and implementing the evaluation plan that includes regular monitoring of key process and outcome measures for each component of the program and provides the basis for continual improvements. The successful candidate will display self-motivation, accuracy, and efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The New York City Teens Connection Evaluation Coordinator will:
  • Support NYCTC evaluation activities by providing technical, administrative, and research support for all aspects of the evaluation
  • Manage all data collection and research efforts, including:
  • Overseeing data entry
  • Providing assistance in developing and implementing data collection tools
  • Designing and maintaining databases using Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, and the performance measures platform provided by the funder
  • Cleaning, manipulating, and analyzing data using various statistical software packages such as SAS and R
  • Demonstrating familiarity with geocoding techniques
  • Preparing IRB applications, as needed
  • Liaise and work closely with schools, community and school-based clinics, and other implementation partners to facilitate data collection efforts
  • Assist with the preparation of periodic written reports to monitor the progress of all evaluation objectives, as well as generate manuscripts and presentations
  • Conduct literature reviews, as needed
  • Remain current on the latest data, trends, and best practices in adolescent sexual and reproductive health
  • Present and disseminate data on behalf of NYCTC at conferences, meetings, and other venues
  • Fulfill various data requests for program and other internal agency staff
  • Assist with other duties, tasks, and special projects as may be required by the DOHMH
QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate will possess the following:
  • Academic training in epidemiology (MPH or MS), with an emphasis on sexual and reproductive health
  • Strong quantitative analytic skills (qualitative skills are desired)
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze data using statistical software such as SAS and R
  • Strong organizational skills with good follow-through to complete assignments within specified timeframe
  • Strong written, verbal, and editing skills, including summaries, reports, manuscripts, and presentations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Tableau, and ArcGIS

  • Salary range is from $55,000 - $60,000
