Derby Academy is a Pre-K-8 school in Hingham Massachusetts. Rooted in the school's motto, " Improve Both Mind and Heart ," Derby provides students with a joyful and rigorous academic environment while infusing values and character development into all we do.
Derby Academy seeks a compassionate and collaborative School Counselor. This part-time position will support the social and emotional needs of students and families through middle-school grade levels while working collaboratively with teachers and staff.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Providing short-term individual and group counseling with respect and compassion for each individual student
- Implementing Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons in classrooms
- Empowering students to self-advocate and build skills to problem solve confidently
- Helping students develop age appropriate social skills and identify and regulate emotions
- Organizing and leading affinity groups and lunch bunches
- Creating a community of belonging
