The Game Academy is a nonprofit organization focused on using tabletop gaming as a means for the development of social/emotional awareness, critical thinking/problem-solving skills, and to promote academic growth. We are currently looking to bring aboard a number of Gamemaster-Educators to implement our gaming enrichment program at locations across the Bay area.

Position Description:
POSITION: Educator-Gamemaster
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Our Educator-Gamemasters are responsible for planning and leading tabletop role-playing games for our youth participants, aged 8-16 years. Educator-Gamemasters are responsible for developing age-appropriate storylines and game content, and for implementing a quality recreational and educational experience for each of their players.
Educator- Gamemasters will also be responsible for creating a safe, positive and fun environment that promotes social and emotional development of all participants, as well as promotes the practice of 21st-century skills (creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication) for all participants.
SPECIFIC DUTIES (may include, but are not limited to):
*Plan, organize and lead one or more weekly tabletop role-playing game sessions (2-4 hours per session) for up to 5 participants per group; Some experience in this area is necessary, though, training is also provided.
*Identify and respond to participant behavior issues, needs and specific learning goals (training provided).
*Communicate with managers and parents about participants' experiences and goal-related progress, and report behavior or other concerns to management.
*Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, 'table' or 'workshop' notes, and daily attendance.
*Complete preparatory and follow-up work (1:2 hrs) related to each Enrichment Program game day.
*Learn and understand ALL emergency procedures and safety guidelines associated with the Enrichment
Program in which you are working. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your participants’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
*Support participants, assistants, peers and management in a positive fashion with a focus on communication, collaboration and esprit de corps!
REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT:
*Show proof of experience working successfully with youth (ages 8-16) in a camp, classroom or other youth program setting.
*Complete mandatory paid training (minimum 2 days) prior to employment.
*Complete First Aid and CPR certification prior to employment.
*Complete Fingerprinting & TB screening prior to employment
QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:
*Ability to lead a collaborative storytelling game.
*Ability to work and communicate as a member of a collaborative team.
*Ability to accomplish tasks with minimal direct supervision.
*Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Additional Desired Qualities:
-Gaming experience (RPGs or other) is a plus!
-Classroom experience and/or teaching background is a plus!
-Theater experience or background is a plus!
-Maker experience or background is a plus!
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
*You will be working in collaboration with your Enrichment Gaming Participants and other TGA staff and volunteers to craft, implement, and facilitate TGA activities and programs.
*Reporting relationships include but are not limited to meeting with and making reports to your regional manager on a weekly basis, as well as any additional meetings with senior management (Bert & Josh) regarding any specific concerns. Additionally, you will have access to communication with management directly, as needed.
COMPENSATION:
*Starting hourly wage is between $20 and $22.
