Job Description Summary :

The Division for Student Affairs (DSA) cultivates an inclusive community that supports connection, growth, and well-being for every student throughout their GW journey. Within DSA, The Center for Interfaith and Spiritual Life (CISL) fosters and supports the diverse religious and spiritual needs of the George Washington University community, promoting interfaith dialogue, understanding, and cooperation.

The Center for Interfaith and Spiritual Life seeks a dynamic and innovative leader to serve as the Program Coordinator. This is a unique opportunity to foster a welcoming and inclusive space for students, faculty, and staff on a secular campus to explore their religious and spiritual identities, engage in interfaith dialogue, and navigate ethical challenges.

The Program Coordinator will collaborate with CISL staff and other partners to support, develop, and implement interfaith programming so that GW community members who orient around religion and spiritual identify differently can have a common life together and in so doing enhance their sense of belonging.

Reporting to the Director, Religious and Spiritual Life, the Program Coordinator :

  • Manages tactical, day-to-day operations of the Center, including scheduling, calendar management, recordkeeping, and filing systems.
  • Oversees and provides support to student employees, ensuring efficient workflow and positive learning experiences.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date financial records, process invoices, vendor relations, reimbursements, or other specific financial tasks, and manages the Center’s budget effectively.
  • Coordinates and manages office supplies, equipment, and technology needs.
  • Manages communication across multiple platforms, including social media, websites, and other platforms useful by GW’s policy and guidelines.
  • Collaborates with the Director and other staff to assist with coordinating logistics including specialized catering for diverse events and programs.
  • Handles event registration, communication, and marketing materials.
  • Manages event setup, and breakdown, and ensures adherence to safety regulations.
  • Prepares and submits necessary reports related to events and programs.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the Center, providing courteous and efficient service to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
  • Assists with drafting and disseminating communication materials related to Center activities and programs including management of relevant social media.
  • Cultivates positive relationships with diverse religious, secular, and spiritual communities

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications :

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma / GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses / Certifications / Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e,g., Business Administration, Public Administration, Religious Studies) preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in administrative or operational roles.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software. Design or CRM management preferred.
  • Experience working with event planning and logistics.
  • Commitment to respect for all religious, spiritual, and secular diversity and inclusion of worldview identities.
