Job Summary
This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repair on the Paving Division's truck fleet and other equipment, ensuring all machinery and vehicles are maintained and functioning efficiently.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on dump trucks, pavers, and other equipment.
- Maintain equipment logs and records.
- Retrieve and repair disabled vehicles.
- Work safely at all times and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Ensure compliance with all Gerken Company policies and procedures.
- Perform duties professionally and courteously.
- Efficient and safe maintenance of vehicles, including diesel engines, drive trains, truck systems, welding, and burning skills (certificates preferred).
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or willingness to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Possess and maintain mechanic's tools.
- Strong interpersonal, math, and computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and on the phone.
- Team player with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a vocational training program in automotive technology or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience in truck and equipment repair and maintenance preferred.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and tools preferred.
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Must be able to access and navigate the facility.
- Able to safely climb and descend ladders.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Moderate noise levels in operational areas.
- Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
