Overview
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing the procurement activities that support the smooth operation of our manufacturing plant. The Purchasing Manager will also play a key role in vendor relationship management, inventory optimization, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement Strategy:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company goals and production schedules.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or timelines.
2. Supplier Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements to secure the best value.
- Evaluate and monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with company standards.
3. Inventory Control:
- Collaborate with inventory and production teams to forecast material needs accurately.
- Optimize inventory levels to minimize costs while avoiding production disruptions.
4. Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with legal and ethical standards.
- Mitigate risks by diversifying supplier base and preparing contingency plans.
5. Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor a team of procurement professionals.
- Foster a collaborative environment and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
6. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze market trends and supplier data to inform purchasing decisions.
- Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance for senior management.
Purchasing Manager Qualifications/Skills:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software, Strong understanding of supply chain principles and inventory management.
- Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership and communication abilities. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Supervisory Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
- Other Requirements: Knowledge of relevant regulations, including ISO standards and environmental compliance.

Work environment:
