Overview
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing the procurement activities that support the smooth operation of our manufacturing plant. This role involves sourcing quality materials, negotiating favorable contracts, and ensuring a seamless supply chain to meet production goals. The Purchasing Manager will also play a key role in vendor relationship management, inventory optimization, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. This position requires a strategic thinker who can balance cost-efficiency with quality and reliability while driving continuous improvements in the procurement process.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement Strategy:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company goals and production schedules.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or timelines.

2. Supplier Management:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements to secure the best value.
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with company standards.

3. Inventory Control:

  • Collaborate with inventory and production teams to forecast material needs accurately.
  • Optimize inventory levels to minimize costs while avoiding production disruptions.

4. Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with legal and ethical standards.
  • Mitigate risks by diversifying supplier base and preparing contingency plans.

5. Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and mentor a team of procurement professionals.
  • Foster a collaborative environment and promote continuous improvement initiatives.

6. Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze market trends and supplier data to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance for senior management.

Purchasing Manager Qualifications/Skills:

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software, Strong understanding of supply chain principles and inventory management.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership and communication abilities. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Supervisory Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Other Requirements: Knowledge of relevant regulations, including ISO standards and environmental compliance.

  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Punctuality and reliability are essential.

Work environment:

  • Lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and ladders.
  • Working conditions range from an office environment to on the shop floor directly with technicians, operators, and supervisors.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
