What are the responsibilities and job description for the Piano Lab Coordinator position at The Gilmore?
The Piano Lab Coordinator will administratively support and oversee the Gilmore Piano Labs at Spring Valley Elementary, Woods Lake Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, the Community Piano Lab in the Epic Center, KRESA’s Young Adult Program, and the Juvenile Home.
The Piano Lab Coordinator should be highly organized in a digital setting, detail oriented, and an effective communicator with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
The Piano Lab Coordinator will report to the Director of Education. Work will be at The Gilmore Office in downtown Kalamazoo, with regular travel between sites, and some remote working options.
The Irving S. Gilmore International Piano Festival (The Gilmore) promotes and develops world-class musical experiences through its Gilmore Artist Awards; Larry J. Bell Jazz Awards; an annual 10-day music festival featuring the most accomplished international pianists; outstanding piano education and community engagement programs, and the commissioning of new music for the piano.
- Management of student registrations and databases
- Scheduling of classes for the piano labs
- Communicating with parents, teachers, and piano instructors
- Maintaining supplies and resources at each of the sites
- Communicate events and opportunities to Piano Lab families
- Organize bi-annual recitals for each Piano Lab
- Coordinate the moving of equipment as necessary
- Manage the distribution and collection of the Keys2Kids keyboard program
- Report to weekly staff meetings
- Support the education team and events as needed
- Google Workspace with an emphasis on Google Sheets & data management

- Familiarity with audio equipment and digital pianos
- Familiarity with music education and piano pedagogy
- Written and spoken Spanish

This is an hourly part-time position, and pay range is commensurate with experience and skill; starting between $22.00 to $25.00 per hour.
