General Statement of Responsibility: Responsible for executive-level direction of the licensed clinical service areas within the retirement community, including the skilled nursing facility, Assisted Living facility, internal Home Care organization and on-site Clinic. May delegate authority to qualified subordinate directors and managers, as appropriate. Serves as the Administrator of Record for the skilled nursing facility. Leads the above named areas to achieve excellence in clinical care and to maintain standards of operation that meet or exceed all regulatory requirements.
General Qualifications:
- Credentialed as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in Virginia
- 3 or more years experience in a Director level position with a CCRC, long term care or senior living facility
- A bachelor degree in a relevant field is preferred
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- A demonstrated track record of building and leading a team of high-functioning managers and frontline staff.
Performance Expectations: The incumbent must demonstrate proficiency in the essential functions of this position as outlined in the job description. As applicable, the incumbent must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to assure provision of service, based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the residents served.
Health Services Administration
- Manages all aspects of Health Services in order to fulfill expectations and carry out the operation of all Health Services related departments.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the Community’s Health Services functions in accordance and compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and guidelines governing their operation.
- Develop, review and maintain a system of policies and procedures designed to ensure compliant and efficient operations.
- Ensures the development and implementation of a program of Quality Assurance.
- Lead staff in preparation for and participation in surveys and inspections performed by government agencies.
- Collaborate with management and supervisory staff to ensure effective communication and cooperation among departments and personnel.
Resident and Patient Care
- Ensures routine and consistent adherence to all regulatory compliance policies and practices in order to minimize facility liability; remains prepared for survey at all times.
- Works closely with Medical Director, Director of Nursing, Assistant Administrator(s) and professional staff to ensure the appropriateness of plans of care for residents/patients in the Health Services arenas.
- Participates in the admission process as appropriate to determine the Community’s ability to deliver the services needed to care for a resident/patient.
- Leads level of care decision making and communication processes.
- Participates in resident council and/or family council meetings as appropriate.
- Ensures the implementation of an effective infection control program.
Personnel Functions
- Oversees to ensure adequate staffing meets the needs of resident services, in balance with the provided budget and sets goals of skills enhancement and staff retention.
- Ensure that adequate staffing levels are maintained to accomplish the operations of the Health Services functions.
- Participates in the recruitment, selection and evaluation of subordinate management personnel in the Health Services arenas.
- Review complaints and grievances made or filed by supervised personnel, where appropriate.
- Works with Human Resources and Staff Development to ensure that Health Services personnel are adequately oriented to their jobs, trained and properly credentialed.
- Helps to ensure a safe working environment for personnel.
Budgetary Responsibilities
- Completes administrative responsibilities relevant to budgetary compliance.
- Assists the Executive Director with development of the operating and capital improvement budgets for the Health Services arenas.
- Remains abreast of financial performance.
- Leads subordinate managers in measures designed to promote fiscal restraint and the effective use of resources.
- Ensures smart purchasing decisions within the health services arenas.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintains awareness of and follows all of The Glebe’s written and verbally communicated expectations, policies and practices.
- Maintains license (LNHA) and credentials through appropriate continuing education and course work.
- Is compliant with the organization’s policies, standards and code of conduct.

- Performs a variety of other duties as requested in an effort to contribute to the overall efficiency of the organization.
