Position Summary:
The GMC is seeking a Full-Time Bookkeeper to support its finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll management, with experience in the non-profit sector and proficiency in QuickBooks Online. Reporting to the Controller, this role ensures the financial integrity of the GMC’s global operations, including its network of churches and conferences.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Recordkeeping & QuickBooks Online:
- Maintain and update the GMC’s QuickBooks Online system, ensuring accurate financial categorization.
- Troubleshoot and resolve QuickBooks-related issues.
Daily Accounting Tasks:
- Record and organize daily transactions, including journal entries, accounts payable, and receivable.
- Prepare invoices as requested.
- Track income and expenses across various GMC ministries, conferences, and commissions.
Reconciliation & Reporting:
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and the general ledger.
- Monitor and report cash balances to the Controller.
Payroll Management:
- Process payroll for staff and contractors, ensuring accurate calculations of salaries, taxes, and benefits.
- Handle reimbursements for travel and other expenses in compliance with organizational policies.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure timely tax filings.
Budgeting & Compliance Support:
- Assist the Controller with budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, and compliance efforts.
Additional Duties:
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Controller.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience bookkeeping in a large non-profit or religious organization setting preferred.
- Proficiency in payroll processing and reimbursement management.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles for non-profits.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and other accounting software tools.
- Familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems.
Working Conditions:
- Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule during standard business hours.
- Location: Lubbock, Texas.
- Compensation: $70,000 annually
