Job Description:
The Excel Specialist will report to the Reconciliation Supervisor. In this role, you will leverage your advanced Excel skills and experience in account reconciliation to ensure the accuracy of financial data.
Responsibilities:
- Account Reconciliation: Perform detailed reconciliation of accounts, ensuring that all transactions are properly recorded, and discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly
- Data Analysis & Validation: Use advanced Excel functions, formulas, and pivot tables to analyze financial data, validate account balances, and identify discrepancies
- Spreadsheet Management: Create, maintain, and optimize Excel workbooks for reconciliation purposes, ensuring they are structured and efficient for long-term use
- Automation & Process Improvement: Develop and implement macros, Power Query solutions, and automated workflows in Excel to streamline reconciliation processes and reduce manual efforts
- Reporting: Generate detailed reports to highlight reconciliation results, discrepancies, and corrective actions for management and audit purposes
- Collaboration: Work closely with the accounting, finance, and operations teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate financial records across all systems
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and supporting materials for account reconciliations and related financial activities
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving reconciliation processes and Excel-based tools, ensuring that the workflow is efficient and scalable
Education & Other Minimum Requirements
- Advanced Excel Skills: Expertise in Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables, and advanced formulas, along with strong proficiency in data manipulation and analysis
- Account Reconciliation Experience: At least 1 years of experience in account reconciliation, ideally within a corporate finance or accounting environment
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in working with large datasets and ensuring financial records align
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, spot discrepancies, and provide insights to resolve issues effectively
- Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and correct reconciliation issues or process bottlenecks
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain reconciliation results and interact with internal teams and auditors
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience with accounting software or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks)
- Experience in financial reporting or creating financial dashboards using Excel
- Knowledge of GAAP or other relevant accounting standards
