The Marketing Director is a full-time, exempt status position with an annual salary of $85,000. The schedule is generally Monday through Friday, however there may be times when additional hours or schedule changes are necessary. Marketing Director Reports to General Manager and supervises the Marketing Assistant.
Duties & Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Marketing and Advertising:
Develop the marketing plan for the store in consultation with the General Manager.
Develop appropriate advertising strategies for the store and administer the advertising budget.
Develop well-written, creative promotional materials that capture the store’s voice and culture. Work with other professionals
(e.g. marketing agency, radio station reps, etc.) as needed.
Evaluate and buy local media.
Manage and update the website using a content management system (CMS), ensuring that all content is current, accurate, and
optimized for user experience.
Oversee the store’s social media and digital presence by working with the Marketing Assistant and outside
consultants, if needed, to develop a social media strategy, calendar and consistent presence on a variety
of social media platforms. Ensure social media pages are updated.
Oversee the monitoring of active digital and social media marketing programs and develop ways to improve those programs using observations and other data/metrics to assess effectiveness of programs.
Oversee the monitoring of analytics as they relate to website.
Establish standards for production of signage within the store, while maintaining the Good Food Store’s graphic standards.
Check posted signage regularly to ensure acceptable appearance and placement. Remove outdated signage.
Supervise the sourcing, design and purchase of logoed supplies (e.g. reusable bags, gift cards, apparel, etc.)
Collaborate with the Human Resource department to develop and implement targeted recruitment marketing strategies to attract qualified applicants.
Promotions, Events & Programs:
Coordinate community events in consultation with the store’s management team.
Coordinate marketing meetings to plan promotions, events, and in-store merchandising.
Coordinate advertising and other publicity for promotions and events.
Supervise production of publications for promotions and events (e.g. specials flyers, coupons, recipes, etc.)
Inform staff of promotions and other upcoming marketing events through appropriate communication channels.
Communicate information to staff about community involvement and store programs to internally promote the store’s
values, and to bolster staff’s awareness but to also enhance recruitment and retention efforts.
Administer Community Giving Program in consultation with donation committee and within the parameters set by the General
Manager.
Communications, Customer & Community Relations:
Act as liaison with community organizations.
Project a positive store image to the public, often as the store’s spokesperson.
Play a key role in developing and promoting the store’s sustainability strategies and community-based initiatives.
Represent the store to the media to obtain favorable coverage. Manage media relations.
Ensure quality control of all information released. Consult with staff to maintain consistent communication to media.

Maintain an awareness of risks and threats to the store, cultivating an environment of readiness should response to

Play a key role in crisis management and preemptive planning, when necessary.
Personnel:
Collaborate with the Human Resource Department to ensure hiring needs are met for staffing the marketing department.
Supervise marketing department staff.
Set schedules to ensure adequate coverage in marketing department while adhering to labor budget goals.
Provide performance feedback to department staff.
Take disciplinary action as needed following established store policies and procedures.
Ensure on-the-job training for all marketing department staff, making sure that procedures are followed correctly, and tasks are performed efficiently.
Ensure safe working practices and safety training for department staff.
Organize and helps facilitate department meetings.
Keep necessary staff informed of departmental and/or changes in store policies and procedures.
Communicate with other departments to ensure good teamwork with marketing department, etc.
Set examples in areas of proper hygiene, appearance and performance standards.
Maintain confidentiality regarding personnel matters.
Other Responsibilities:
Attend, and participate in department and storewide meetings.
Attend classes, seminars and conferences as assigned.
Answer and route phone calls, take and route messages as needed.
Perform other tasks assigned by General Manager.

Qualification Standards
Education/ Training:
High School education or GED and marketing/communications related degree preferred.
Experience:
Marketing and advertising experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills:
Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva , WordPress, Social Media Channels and Constant Contact. Ability to read department financial reports. Demonstrated writing and editing skills.
Attendance:
Regular, predictable attendance.
Other:
