The Good Samaritan Home of Quincy is looking for a Human Resources Assistant to join our growing team! The primary purpose of your job position is to assist our facility’s Human Resources Director.

QUALIFICATIONS :
Must possess a high school diploma.
Must be at least 18 years of old.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
Must possess sight / hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
Must possess the ability to deal harmoniously with staff, residents, family, visitors, government personnel, public, etc.
Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and remain calm during emergency situations.
Must possess a pleasant personality and be able to work harmoniously with other personnel.
Must have a pleasant speaking voice and good telephone skills.
Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Must be able to type and operate a computer.
May be required to move small equipment and supplies.
Must attend and participate in continuing educational and Workman’s Compensation programs designed to keep you informed of changes in your profession.
Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
Must notify your supervisor (or supervisor on duty) when you will be late or absent from work at least two hours in advance of the shift you are scheduled to work.
Must notify your supervisor in writing at least two weeks in advance prior to resigning your position at GSH.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Assist in planning; develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility’s Human Resources Department.
Assist in development and maintain written policies and procedures that govern the Human Resource Department.
Assist in implementing the day-to-day functions.
Process employment applications and assist in other employee activities.
Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons.
Maintain confidentiality of all personnel records and employee related issues.
Fill request for new or replacement personnel for department heads.
Arrange for interviews with department heads as required.
Assure timely reference checks are done for each newly hired employee.
Prepare and distribute performance evaluations to supervisors.
Assist Human Resources Director to ensure that the facility is in compliance with current federal and state employment regulations regarding wages, overtime work hours, worker’s compensation, etc.
Assist Human Resources Director to ensure hiring and terminating procedures are in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Update Human Resources and department heads of changes in personnel matters.
File forms in Human Resources as needed.
Order flowers for employees (hospitalization, funerals, etc.) when necessary.
Track and fax all employee worker’s compensation claims / bills to the worker's compensation carrier. Compile monthly employee incident reports for monthly meetings.
Create personal and medical files for all new employees. Compile forms needed to complete files and files in Human Resources.
Conduct new employee orientation.
Complete employee separation forms and pull employee file in Human Resources.
Record work-related injuries and illnesses on the OSHA Form 300. Maintain the information required for all recordable work-related injuries and illnesses that occur each calendar year.
Record all employee physical dates, name changes, department changes, license numbers for licensed personnel, CNA certification dates, and termination dates for in-service Coordinator.
Responsible for all licensure renewals (RN, LPN, Beauticians, Dietary).
Carryout front desk receptionist duties as needed (lunch times, etc.).
Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when operating office equipment.
Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to assure resident rights are protected.
