This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Kid Zone Coordinator maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all, and provides a quality experience for the community. This position is responsible for the administration and oversight of the Kid Zone department, a member service that provides care for children ages 6 weeks to elementary age. The Coordinator is responsible for department operations including staffing, programming, reporting, and direct service hours. Additionally they are responsible for monthly family events. Implementing youth development practices, a positive and energetic attitude, problem solving, and safety are key for this position.
Selected candidates will engage a wide variety of youth in fun, educational, and stimulating activities while demonstrating their capacity to uphold the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Experience in supervising groups of children; CPR/ First Aid certified a plus.
Work Hours/Pay Range:
- FLEXIBLE scheduling available
- Full time with benefits
- Hiring rate is $15 - $17 per hour depending on experience
Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of experience supervising groups of young children
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience
- Preferred post-high school credits or certificate pertaining to child development
- Possess strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
- Possess strong organizational skills
- Current CPR/AED/O2/First Aid certification (or within 30 days of hire)
- Knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
- Previous experience with diverse populations
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
