Literacy Department Coach

For a position to begin in August of 2025, GVS is seeking a literacy coach who will be an enthusiastic member of the Green Vale community. All faculty are charged with ensuring that programming reflects and aligns with The Green Vale School’s mission, values, and culture.
Requirements:
- Masters Degree in Education
- Literacy/Reading Degree or Certification
- Experience with Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshops and Fundations
- Demonstrates a growth mindset
- Knowledge of current trends and research in learning, assessment, and literacy
Roles
Literacy Department Coach
- Order materials/books (Fundations materials & trade books)
- Organize trainings for teachers (Fundations)
- Organize testing/assessments (Fountas & Pinnell, Writing On Demands, Ect.)
- Prepare presentations for faculty and staff around literacy best practices
- Train teachers on how to administer formal and informal reading and writing assessments in the classroom
- Collect data from literacy department and classroom teachers to progress monitor students
- Help teachers use data to differentiate instruction
- Model lessons for teachers as needed
- Create remedial groups and provide strategies for “at risk” students
- Teach remedial literacy groups for grades Pre-K-5
- Follow the school wide tiered system of student support Tier 2
- Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers
- Communicate and contribute to Child Study Meetings for Early Childhood and Lower School
- Maintain a positive and proactive relationship with administration, teachers, parents and the ARC department in order to ensure a strong action plan and next steps for students
Admissions
- Test new applicants for admissions department (organize materials, administer testing, score and write written reports)
- Attend and participate in admissions meeting with Admissions Director and team
- Review applicants files to determine eligibility
Extra School Duties:
- Early Morning, Dismissal, lunch duty, attending and participating in faculty meetings and professional development
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
