Job Overview
A commercial maintenance estimator collects, evaluates, and then prepares detailed total cost information for profitability and during the construction bidding process. They will visit construction sites to gather information and analyze proposals, specifications, blueprints, and construction documents to understand the project. Estimators work closely with project managers to coordinate and supervise suppliers and/or subcontractors in the bidding process. They determine the time, labor, materials, and product costs for the project and communicate the requirements to the customer.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Manage workflow and estimate pipeline to provide complete proposals ahead of bid deadlines
2. Assist operations with technical information and pricing
3. Review RFPs, plans, appendices, and specifications to determine our scope of work and the most effective production methods
4. Obtain a minimum of three quotes from qualified subcontractors for each scope of outsourced work
5. Continuously update the Aspire database and factors
6. Complete the plan takeoff and enter the offer information into Aspire
7. Calculate total direct cost estimates for each bid
8. Prepare a bid summary for each estimate
9. Review bids with managers based on approval limits
10. Prepare proposals
1. Improve the estimation system based on feedback solicited from production staff
1. Complete additional tasks or assignments as directed by the Regional Manager
Required Skills/Abilities
2. Broad understanding of landscape maintenance methods
3. Basic knowledge of plant material and best horticultural practices
4. Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
5. Ability to project a professional image and a positive attitude in all situations
6. Good written and verbal communication skills
7. Strong organizational and time management skills
8. Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Aspire
9. Basic understanding of business math, accounting, and financial reporting
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in architecture, or related field is preferred
A minimum of three years of estimating experience preferred
