Custodian #2

General Purpose: Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the cleaning and maintenance of the school, classrooms and grounds as assigned. Maintains safety standards at all times. Follows and enforces town and department policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks, including but not limited to dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, or washing floors, windows, and walls.
• Disinfecting surfaces
• Remove trash and debris from classrooms, offices, teacher’s lounge, and bathrooms and replace trash bags in trash cans
• Clean and store dirty dishes and silverware in the teacher’s lounge
• Coordinating with other Cleaners to keep business clean
• Cleaning spills, broken glass and other messes up as quickly as possible
• Performing maintenance activities related to cleaning (e.g. maintaining cleaning machinery)
• Refilling supplies, such as toilet paper and paper towels
• Ordering new cleaning supplies as needed
• Checks various types of building equipment for normal operating conditions.
• Inventories and dispenses routine cleaning materials and supplies.
• Monitor buildings and grounds for security and safety conditions.
• Reports abnormal building conditions to supervisor.
• Ensure quality customer service through positive interactions with participants, staff, guardians, and the public.
• Maintains highest level of safety and risk management at all times.
• Responds appropriately to all emergencies and reports all incidents to appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain records, reports, daily equipment, and facility checks, and other reports as assigned.
• Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required.

Qualifications:

• Ability to be mobile while cleaning
• Ability to lift and move over 50 pounds
• Knowledge of different cleaning products and tools
• Time-management and multitasking abilities
• Organization skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision

Hours and Compensation:

This is a part-time, 5-day per week hourly position, pay rate is $17.81 - $19.50 per hour. Hours are flexible - between 5:00-9:00am or 11:00pm-2:00am. Average weekly hours at 15 hours per week.
